Chocolate Chips – My Favorite Treat

chocolate chips - my favorite treat
I’ve always had a sweet tooth, and my favorite cookie is the chocolate chip – the more chips the better! By using different types of chocolate or by adding other ingredients like nuts, raisins, and oatmeal, you can make dozens of variations of this cookie. Experiment with chocolate-covered raisins or nuts, peanut butter or butterscotch chips, yogurt-coated raisins, and dried fruits. Trust me – they’re all good.

Here’s the basic recipe:
  • 1 cup butter
  • ½ cup white sugar
  • 2/3 cup brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 2 cups (or more) chocolate chips or chunks (milk, white, or dark chocolate)
  • 1 cup chopped nuts (walnuts, cashew, pecan, macadamia, or almond)
Procedure:
  • Preheat oven to 350° F. Lightly grease a baking sheet.
  • In a bowl, cream the butter until soft, then add the sugars.
  • Add the eggs and beat until smooth.
  • Sift the dry ingredients together, then add to the mixture.
  • Fold in the chocolate and nuts. Drop the mixture by tablespoons onto the baking sheet.
  • Bake until edges are lightly browned.
